The Crickets have taken over this blog!!

*Stomp Stomp* Shoo-Shoo! Go Away Crickets!!! You know how the south is in the spring. The bugs come out of thin air!

Sorry we haven't posted in a while. Things have been crazy. Last week I met up with Robbie at her house in Chelsea. I love her house! It is right by a private lake, woods, and just far enough out of the way so that you can't hear traffic!!
We moved the meeting to her place and opened it to Myspace friends this go round. We decided to make some sewing stitches with her mighty mighty surger and sewing machine (mine was having a b#$!*% moment). I've never played with a surger before and I was honored to give hers a try. She has some incredible dresses that she has made and is gettin ready to sell on eBay if anyone is interested. When she posts her wares, I'll post the link to them here!
Me? I made a mini messenger bag out of some nice plad fabric that I still have. Go me huh? Any offers? My plan is to make about 10 more before Bonnaroo so I can sell them to the other cool hippies so they can hold their, stuff.
Next time we meet at Robbie's I think we should have a party with more folks. I kid ya'll not she has an awesome place to hang with nature!

This week's meetup I am taking suggestions. I think that since it is spring and the weather is nice we should meet somewhere with a patio. What do you think?
Suggestions ASAP Please!!! Otherwise I'm choosing for us!! (I don't know if ya'll want that!)
Post a comment or email me at alknitgurl at yahoo.

Knit in the Ham!!

Hi Monica! If you are out there and any other knitter or crocheter is interested in joining us this is for you too!

Knit in the Ham is a group Brook and I started after meeting each other via blogs! That's right Blogs! We found out that we were separated at birth and amazingly haven't crossed paths before! Heck our mom's are even the same age born in the same month and year!! Some of the folks in our normal circles of friends don't get our obsession of yarn, knitting, knitty gritty and all things related to it! So we started getting together once a week. Sunday has been the day of choice since most of the other LYS knitting groups meet during the week and we can't make it! I posted bulletins to my friends & Brook to her friends and friends of friends and so on via myspace and the group has grown to about 4 folks most coming when they can. We'd love for more folks to show up!! We don't stop with knitting. Brook and Robbie both crochet!!
Robbie, my old college roommate, has been crocheting for over a year comes almost every week just so she can work on her projects.
Mary, just started knitting a couple of months ago and loves it and comes when she's in town.
Ashley attended once and we'd love to have her back again, crochets & just learned how to knit.
Lori, just learned how to knit at the Wednesday night meeting after the super bowl.
And of Course Symone my daughter age 7 is the new little knitting instructor in the making.

We will help you with your projects, and can answer any questions you have.
You don't have to be at any level and we won't charge you for lessons (but buying a round would be very nice!) So I tell you what! Sunday March 4 come on out. Bring your yarn & needles and I'll show ya'll the basics to help you get started.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!!! Please come on out and have a brew and stitch a while.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Red Heart Super Saver is a good cheap one)
US Size 8 Knitting needles

Materials are available at wal-mart for a total cost of $4-5 dollars.

If you don't like football DIY is running a knitty gritty marathon during the super bowl!! I hate that I'm going to miss that too. I absolutely love to knit while watching football!!!

Brews and Stitching

We had a fabulous time at Applebees today. (I missed you Brook!!!) A couple of friends of mine came along and are hell bent on stitching with Brook and I in the future! Yay!! It takes a group organizing for folks to show up!!!
Robbie, a good friend of mine for the past 10 years is a crochet, and sewing guru!! She sells her wares on ebay. She showed off some of her awesome kercheif headbands, hats and a swim suit she crocheted! Go Robbie!
Mary is a newbie knitter. I've been working on teaching her for a while now. I think she finally got it today!! She is very excited to start in the world of knitting! Yay!!
Alayna and Symone our little knitters to be also joined us but they stuck to juice and sweet tea.
Also I think next sunday we will meet up at 3 PM at Applebees. That's when their happy hour starts! 99 cent Draft brew, and margaritas and half off well drinks and appetizers. Woo hoo!!!
Robbie may join us on Sunday but she's getting back from Atlanta and may not attend. Mary is working in Huntsville and won't be able to make it so... Where is every one else?
Come on out this Sunday 3PM Applebees Hwy 119 in Pelham!! Bring a couple of bucks for drinks, your sticks and hooks and some good conversation!!!
Woo Hoo!!
